North Light Studio

Catherine perfecting some details in our North Light Studio today! Had the best model, Addie Harben. Thank you so much to her Mamma and big brother helper, Austyn and Sawyer!

The benefit of a “north light” light source is its reflected light, and color values and contrasts and soft and a perfect light to photograph with.

Christmas Window Display 2017

This year, our display centered around the full story of Jesus' birth. When you come to visit our windows, you'll find the story beginning with Gabriel visiting Mary, to an angel appearing to Joseph in a dream, the wise men and shepherds traveling to the manger, and a full 10 ft nativity scene! We sought to create an interactive story where people of all ages could come visit, learn, admire, and share.

ASAP Prints collaborated with us and really set the scene! They custom created a city-scape window cling of Bethlehem, a 3-D North Star, and two incredible Bible cutouts narrating the story. We were able to have local ministers, priests, clients and friends participate as the characters in the prints. Gary and Kim Moulton and St. Joseph's helped by providing the costumes. We are very thankful to be able to have this story on display for the community and to share the good news.

Christmas is such a wonderful time of year, but remember the reason for the season. "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from the time on and forever. The real of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this." Isaiah 9:6-7

Presenting our newest creation.... Blossom

Blossom has been an incredible collaboration with local professionals and their creative minds. We are very excited to unveil this collection and showcase local women as models, and local professionals as the creative minds. Each piece was inspired by different cultures, parts of history, and seasons.

As you take in each piece, you will see inspiration from Native American Indians, woodland fairies,  Cleopatra, the 1940's, the Victorian Era, the Modern Era, India, Spring, and Polynesian culture. This is a very diverse collection, each piece being completely unique and different from the others, but what connects all of these are the florals. Each model is adorned with a custom-created living floral arrangement!

This project has been a true labor of love. DHS Design Guild created these custom florals and Lynda Whitney helped with some of the models' hair and aesthetic design. We met with Heather Coscia and Shelly Braswell at DHS Design Guild, and Lynda Whitney, early in the summer to start the planning process, and early on we could feel this would be a very special collaboration and Final collection. Needless to say, our creativity will never be the same and has inspired all of us to keep thinking bigger and better!

Autism Awareness Month

This month we had the honor to photograph some local children for Autism Awareness. Getting to photograph these autistic children was magical and we are truly thankful for the opportunity. We saw their personalities come alive and we were able to capture the essence of who they are... spunkiness and all! Autism Awareness is so important, but more importantly, remember that life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it.

black and White Series - Young Children

The next images in our black and white series are the Fisher family, and Caroline Donley. The Fishers are such a cute and young family, and Caroline’s 1 yr old portrait will always be a favorite of ours. What little girl doesn’t want a tutu and her favorite stuffed animals made into artistic image?!  We loved capturing these children at such a cute age. Such great pieces of art for their walls, and memories for a lifetime!

Black and White Series - Mari Hyun

The next image in our black and white series we want to highlight is Mari Hyun. When you plan your bridal portrait - a portrait that turns in to an heirloom piece - what better than to add a personal touch to it…? This is a favorite bridal portrait of ours because it tells the story of Mari, a bride and an incredible dancer, with a passion for point (as a performer and as a teacher), continuing the Lawlor family legacy.

Black and White Series - Drake Burr

The next image in our black and white series is Drake Burr. We have been working with Drake as he has been transforming his brand and he has taught us something very valuable…”Don’t ask… What do you take? Ask.. What does it take?”  in regards to successful weight training. Look him up at or buy his book - "The Dream Body Manifesto’!

iPhone 5s camera

My phone contract was up and It was time to upgrade. Of course the new iPhone 5s is a great phone. The LTE service is faster than my home wifi and the phone itself is very responsive. Must say the camera is the most impressive feature. Best iPhone camera by far. Shoots beautiful stills for everyday family type of stuff and general images when you don't want to carry the heavy gear. 1080p video and has a really neat slo-mo feature. For a phone, the camera is a great perk.

So proud of my daughter Olivia (12) who tagged along with me on a wedding a couple weeks ago.  She did a remarkable job and many of her shots proudly were included right next to mine for the client.  She has the eye and going to keep a camera in her hand as much as she wants to.
